Article : Teens Use Web as Source for Health Info

le 15 juin 2015

[PsychCentral] It may come as no surprise that our digitally native teens are turning to the Internet for info on the health issues of adolescence and young adulthood.

At the same time, they are concerned with keeping health care information private and could improve their digital literacy skills.

The finding comes after Northwestern University researchers administered the first national study in more than a decade on how adolescents use digital tools for health information.

Although most teens tap online sources to learn more about puberty, drugs, sex, depression, and other issues, a surprising 88 percent said they do not feel comfortable sharing their health concerns with Facebook friends or on other social networking sites.

Researchers believe the report provides important information for public health organizations trying to reach adolescents.
